English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world. But there are some curious facts that not everyone knows.

English is a beautiful language to learn, don't you think? It is also extremely interesting.



Here are 10 fascinating facts that I bet you didn't know.



1.- The dot on top of the i is called the title.


2.- The most used letter of the English alphabet is E and Q is the least used.


3.- The word GoodBye derives from the Old English word GodBye, which used to mean "God be with you."


4.- The word four (four in English) has four letters: in the English language there is no other number whose number of letters is equal to its value.


5.- English is the language of the air. All pilots must identify themselves and speak English while flying, regardless of their origin.


6.- The first English dictionary was written in 1755.


7.- There was no word for the color orange in English until about 450 years ago


8.- There is no word in the English language that rhymes with month, orange, silver or purple.


9.- Due to a misprint, there was a word in the English dictionary from 1932 to 1940 that had no meaning. The word was "DORD" and became known as the "ghost word"


10.- There are many more words that are written in capital letters in English than in Spanish, so it is important to know them.
